Itinerary and Information: Join this fun paddle down the majestic Blue River located near Fredericksburg, IN. Known for the magical color of the water, you will be carried along by the ribbon of blue liquid beneath your canoe. Experience moving water and learn to better control the direction your boat travels as the Blue River makes its way south to the Ohio River and onward toward the ocean.
Arrive at the Old Mill Canoe Rental primitive campground as early as 4:00pm on Friday evening. Bring your gear to set up your tent camp, then put out your chair, and relax around the group fire with stories and laughter. They will provide a campsite for Friday night primitive camping, tandem canoes, paddles, and life jackets, as well as paddling advice and suggestions offered by fun and knowledgeable leaders.
Saturday morning, the target departure time will be 9:00am. The folks at Old Mill Canoe Rental will share their love of the Blue River as they send us down river. We will meander along the river stopping now and again to stretch our legs and check out the sites along the river. Be sure to pack a trail lunch and snacks as you are sure to paddle up an appetite. Depending on the speed of the moving water, and the rate at which we paddle, we will cover the 12-miles of river in 4-6 hours. At the end of our paddling day, OMCR will meet us and shuttle us back to our vehicles. We will revel in our success day and head for home.
